On Tuesday, Apple Inc. released a statement against the Brazilian order to ban iPhone sales without chargers. They will appeal to the Brazilian consumer protection agency Senacon to “resolve their concerns”.

We have already won several court rulings in Brazil on this matter and we are confident that our customers are aware of the various options for charging and connecting their devices,” the Apple spokesperson told Reuters. According to Apple, it is expected to save 861,000 tons of copper, zinc, and tin, as well a smaller size, will be required in the packaging which will carry 70 percent more iPhone 12 boxes to reduce CO2 emissions.

The ministry has rejected all the arguments given by Apple including the main cause of reducing carbon emissions. According to them, there are no proven shreds of evidence that can support the fact. Do selling an iPhone without a charger can save the environment?

Back in 2020, Apple opened up about its plans to remove two accessories charging brick and earbuds, and include only a USB-C to Lightning cable. European Union also has some resentment toward Apple Inc. and expects a law to mandate USB-C ports by 2024.

According to 2021s data, Apple’s net income is US$94.68 billion with a revenue of US$365.82 billion and the decision could be a money-saving deal for Apple.
