Central Electronics Limited is a Govt. of India Enterprise under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology. It was established in 1974 with the objective of commercially exploiting the indigenous technologies developed by National Laboratories and R&D Institutions in the country.
In addition, CEL has developed a number of products for the first time in the country through its own R&D efforts and in close association with the premier National & International Laboratories including Defence Laboratories.

In conclusion, Central Electronics Limited (CEL) is the pioneer and one of the manufacturers of Solar-Photovoltaic (SPV) Cells, Modules, and Systems in India. As a result of its own R&D efforts, spread over a decade of continuous efforts, the company has converted a laboratory concept into an industrial technology.
Furthermore, CEL is one of the very few companies, worldwide, that indigenously manufacture ferrite phase shifters for C- and X- bands. Also, CEL has production facilities for meeting the bulk demand for phase shifters. In addition, Customized software is used to measure the phase shifter to make it fully automated.
Central Electronics Ltd(CEL) is a PSU under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology. Also, it has pioneered Solar Photovoltaics in the country and has the distinction of having manufactured India’s First Solar Cell in 1977, as well as India’s First Solar Panel in 1978, and installed India’s first solar power plant in 1992. Finally, CEL developed India’s first indigenous flexible solar panel for use on the Science Express in 2015.
